Traveling the 101
In all my travels from Washington to California I have never taken the opportunity to travel on HWY 101. I was missing out on such a beautiful drive. Our Journey started in Spokane,Washington and took us through the Tri Cities to Portland, Oregon. Once we were in OR we cut over I-5 to HWY 101.
The Oregon coastline is so serene. As you drive you will see the coast in all it’s glory. We passed groups of traveling bicyclists and hitchhikers along with small ocean side towns that made you want to stop and check out their stores and eateries if you weren’t on a a time crunch.
We were lucky enough to find a dog friendly hotel in Coos Bay, Or for our first night of travel. The pups really enjoyed being able to go for long car rides and continue their hotel living.
We continued the next day finishing out our trip through Oregon and suddenly we were in California. The Redwood Highway is a landscape photographers dream. between the ocean and the redwood trees and the constant sunshine you are blown away with all the opportunities.
I knew we were close to family as I started to see all the vineyards along the hillsides.
Enjoy all the photos I took along the way.

Ha Ha ! With all your friends, you and John will be lucky to have a day to yourselves, I’m thinking : ). Is this an Army posting?
Andie
Yes, this is the last duty station before John retires. Well the invitation is open if you would like to come over the pond. We will be there for 3-4 years.
