Take your meds before driving in Italy!

So it is finally official I have my Italian Drivers License! This wasn’t as easy as one might think. There are a few different rules here and let’s face it, people drive like manics here. Most of the time road signs and speed limits are a recommendation and not something many of them follow.

We are still waiting to get our car which is not a huge surprise as we were told it would take about 90 days to reach Italy from Alaska. Which is a little frustrating, however we have purchased bikes to get us around in the time being. However we have made some friends here and they have been kind enough to take us to some places.

Just the other day my friend T and I were coming back from some grocery shopping and at a complete stop we were hit from behind. We were jolted forward a bit and a little sore for the rest of the night, but nothing serious.

Then there was a wreck right down the road from our hotel which was pretty much the second week we were there.

Have I said people are Crazy drivers here?

Final words… When you come to visit please do not give me shit for the way I drive I am just doing as the locals do, and the end goal is not to get in a fender bender or a wreck. So if you are nervous bring your:
-alprazolam (Xanax) panic, generalized anxiety, phobias, social anxiety, OCD
_clonazepam (Klonopin) panic, generalized anxiety, phobias, social anxiety
_diazepam (Valium) generalized anxiety, panic, phobias
_lorazepam (Ativan) generalized anxiety, panic, phobias
_oxazepam (Serax) generalized anxiety, phobias
_chlordiazepoxide (Librium) generalized anxiety, phobias

Here is a great video that gives you a little insight to how these people drive. It was filmed in Naples however this is really how all of them drive.

If you still would like more info here is the downloadable PDF on the driving test we all have to take here.
