Vinitaly started in 1967 and has become one of the most important events for domestic and international wines and is considered one of the largest wine shows in the world.
If you’ve never attended an industry driven trade show it is really just an awesome county fair full of booze, truly a winos dream come true. This show has over 4,000 booths of suppliers who are more than happy to pour you a taste of their wines, grappa, or other tasty alcoholic beverages. There truly is no way you could taste every single wine, however it is so much fun to try.
When you are in need of a break there is wonderful meats, cheeses, breads, olive oils and perfectly aged balsamic to help you get more energy to go back and taste more wine.
The common theme this year seemed to be driven more to the organic (biological) wines and the slow food movement. Many wineries were happy to show you their low or no sulfates wines along with their history of making organic wines.
I was lucky enough to attend as a guest of Trabucchi d’Illasi Winery along with two of my friends who surprised me with this awesome opportunity. I felt so lucky to experience this event. I look forward to passing along information to those who are interested in any of the wines you see.
Here are some of the photos I took while attending.
